Safety nets: Inspections
The good condition of collective protection systems is closely linked to the level of security they offer, although sometimes we are not aware of it.
For this reason, it is vitally important to establish a safety net inspection protocol, carried out by competent personnel, with adequate knowledge to identify obvious defects, and who can have an objective view of the system being inspected.
For this reason, from Visornets we recommend establishing a protocol for the inspection of safety and protection nets in work sites, in order to detect any failure or breakage of these and prevent safety nets from not fulfilling their function.
Safety net inspections
Below we are going to list a series of inspections by type:
- Pre-use Inspection → The user should visually inspect the system before each use for obvious defects or interference.
- Periodic inspections → Periodic inspections should be carried out weekly.
- Interim Inspections → More frequent inspections may be required when conditions are particularly harsh or hostile to the system. They will be carried out where an exceptional event has occurred that could compromise the integrity of the system.
- Annual Inspections of Test Mesh → Safety systems manufactured by Visornets have 3 test mesh patches to be inspected annually. The user must send VISOR FALL ARREST NETS S.L. or qualified reseller test patches at the end of each safety net expiration year. Then, our laboratory will carry out the test of the mesh, and if the result of the main test is satisfactory, we will proceed to re-certify the use of the network as a safety net for one more year, granting the client an individual certificate.
